The PFRA Annual Awards recognise excellence by Australian referees in five categories, all voted upon by their peers, and are designed to reflect performances on the field as well as off-field contributions such as training commitment, leadership qualities and overall dedication to the role of an Elite Match Official. The Awards are contested in two categories, focusing on the A-League as well as performances on the international stage in AFC and FIFA competitions.
This season saw the fourth edition of the Awards, with A-League Grand Final referee Jarred Gillett continuing his winning streak and securing his fourth consecutive PFRA A-League Referee of the Year award. Matthew Cream won his third PFRA A-League Assistant Referee of the Year award, as well as his fourth consecutive PFRA International Assistant Referee of the Year award. The PFRA International Referee of the Year award went to Chris Beath who also won the award in 2016, while in his debut season on the A-League Assistant Referee panel Daniel Ilievski won the A-League Rising Star of the Year award.
PFRA President Strebre Delovski said that all the award winners deserved praise for their outstanding performance over the last 12 months.
"I would like to congratulate all the 2018 PFRA Award winners for their outstanding contribution both on and off the field.
"The PFRA Awards recognise excellence both domestically and internationally and the winners definitely achieved that this year" concluded Delovski.
