This afternoon, Delfina Shakespear will officiate her final @aleagues women’s match.
She will be the assistant referee on the Canberra United v Brisbane Roar fixture at McKellar Park in Canberra. Del has been a consistent performer on the ALW panel over a number of years having debuted on the same fixture on 8 December 2013.
Del’s final match will be her 125th at this level, equalling the record for ALW assistant referee appointments, including an appointment as assistant referee on the 2021-22 ALW grand final.
Off the field, Del is a keen advocate for the refereeing family and in particular, for women and girls officiating at all levels of football. Del has been a significant contributor to the PFRA and whilst her on field professional career draws to a close, we have no doubt her impact will continue to be felt for many years to come.
